Location: Redesigned HQ under the souvenir shop in Mahogany Town, JohtoThe ceremony was held in a large light grey meeting room filled with Team Rocket members of all ranks. On a platform like stage at the front of the room, sat the executives and other higher members. Behind them was a large white screen for announcements from the boss. On the lower ground, there were rows of chairs, each row marked for different ranks. The first row held a sign for the new grunts and in-training members. Next was a row for gym leaders, followed by scientist, agents, and finally in the very back of the room was a space for grunts to stand. The room was dimly lit so people could see at they entered. As usual, the room was cold since it was so close to the labs. The entrance was centered to the room, while on the left and right there were doors leading to other departments of the hideout. To the right of the room, there was two doors. The first led to the training area where gym leaders, breeders, and even some professors would hang out and discuss tactics with other members while training. The next door was for the few members who lived in the hideout. On the left side of the room, there were three doors. The first for labs, second for executive meetings, and the third was locked with a pass-code. Many of the executives and other members had already taken their seats in the room, waiting for the event to start. "Well, I think that's everyone." Stated one of the executives. Clearing his throat, he started the speech everyone had been gathered for. "We have gathered here today to welcome some new recruits. They have completed their basic training and now are grunts or in-training under some of you others." He pointed to the breeders and scientist. "Now, we don wanna make it too easy on them, so push them to their limits!" He paused for a moment then continued. "We all know that some of us have been here for a while. Here is the deal, right now the Boss is undecided on how we should do things. So, it is up to us to figure out if we are going to help others or still steal their Pokemon. Personally, I am in favor of taking over the world like we used to. Brute strength, smarts, and taking what we want!" There were a few cheers from the crowd who agreed. "But, I know some of you softies think we should try to be nice about shit. Well, whatever. As long as you complete your missions. That's all the Boss cares about." Quickly he turned to the other executives to see if they had anything else to add. "I guess that's all I gotta say..." He muttered before taking his place. Unless another executive stepped up, the meeting seemed to be over.

Drew watched as the Executive sat back down after officially announcing that he and the other recruits had finished their training, the first group since Giovanni had originally disbanded Team Rocket a few years back. Drew felt as if he still needed time to process it all, take a step back and look at the scene; just like his masters at Blackthorn City's Dragon Den had taught him. His training there had prepared both he and his pokemon, primarily Charizard, for almost every challenge that they would face in the future. However, he still felt slightly apprehensive at signing up with Team Rocket, the group responsible for taking countless pokemon from their trainers and the thought that actually scared him was that now no matter how far he would try to step away, the red R tattoo would remind him that this organization would forever play a role in his life. The decisions made here would either haunt his memories or bring his dreams to life. Still, Drew knew that he was not going to steal pokemon and if ever goaded to do such a thing, he would sooner get the tattoo seared off his chest then take another mission from those commanding him now.
Drew let out a sigh. I need to look forward to a brighter future, no turning back now. Not when I've just started down a new path, Drew thought to himself. He looked down at the red half of a pokeball hanging from his belt. This is a new path for both of us Charizard. We will try to find our purpose through Team Rocket, and if we don't well then we just might be the ones that have to bring it back to the ground. Drew thought as he observed the other recruits begin to mingle with senior members.

A week past, the self-proclaimed Pokemon Queen had been trekking through some Arceus-forsaken jungle in the search for new Pokemon to add to the Team Rocket Compendium of Pokemon. Or rather, the Rocket-Dex, as she enjoyed calling it. Since a few paired teams of Rockets had mistaken common pokemon for priceless rarities (What were their names..? Jean and Jenny..? She could not remember), she had taken it upon herself to find (read:steal) a trainer's Pokedex, and fill it with information about the Pokemon she met on her travels. For the Glory of Giovanni, as they say. Even when she'd received the memorandum announcing Team Rocket's disbanding, the Pokemon Queen had decided that it was better to continue her information gathering than to let it fall by the wayside. After years of solitary work, it came much to her surprise to find a short message on her communicator, reading: You are to be partnered. Attend the next Grunt Graduation. -- R This message then listed coordinates for the meetup. From her location, the Queen had realized that it would take nearly the entire week to return to the secret HQ in Mahogany Town.
But true to her oath, here she sat in the back row with the other scientists avidly gossiping about their newest inventions and a few of her fellow Professors; each awaiting their new partnerships or simply attending to acquaint themselves with the new Grunts. An Elderly Agent was excitedly tugging on the Queen's spaulder, whispering about her grandchild who was graduating. The Queen gave the Agent a nod, which seemed to soothe the proud grand-matron into silence while they both listened to the somewhat stunted speech.
'Nice and Shit'. The eloquence of the Rocket Executives never failed to amaze her.

Ray looked at all the grunts amusedly . Many of them looked his way and pointed. During ceremonies and special occasions were the only times be didn't wear his mask. As the executives filed out into the office room he couldn't help but remember what he heard about a rumor circling around the professors that a legendary pokemon not native to johto was spotted. Could this be the legendary dark type pokemon he sought after? Most likely not however he had high ambition and thanks to it he had risen in the ranks of team rocket. He thought about this but put it out of his mind as the meeting for executives began. Raymond never really interacted with other executives but recognized alot of familiar and recognizable members there. Such as commander scarab from the genesect experiment. And several others whom he had heard about. In the room was a 12 foot circular table with the team rocket logo in red. There were silver platters covered with domes at each seat. At the far east side of the room hung a projected screen with several map locations and randomized numbers. He looked over the energy reading nearby areas and was interested in a certain cave about 10 miles from the base.
He and the other executives stood at attention until they received orders from a superior such as Giovanni or one of his scientists he kept like a persian.

After the Executive gave his speech, a momentary silence filled the room as the rows of grunts and agents eagerly wait for someone to talk or to dismiss them. Toward the back of the room a quick snort was heard followed by some frantic movements from Novick, an agent who seemed to have just woken up from a quick nap. He runs his hands down his face and attempts to get comfortable in his chair, not finding the ceremony to be as entertaining as he has hoped. 'Jeez...' He thought to himself as he scanned the room for anyone he might know 'They schlepped all these newbies in here like its a high school graduation... Probably be the closest thing they'd get to it, I guess...' After failing to spot anyone he slowly leans back into his chair. 'I never even liked this crap when I started out... I could be raiding a Center, getting a drink, picking up chicks... I just hope they don't pair me with someone... Last thing I need is to hold someones hand for the next few months...' Novick pops a mint into his mouth in an attempt to distract himself, hoping someone up front would end the ceremony so he could get back out into the field.

As James walked out of the room he sighed. He always gave that speech when new recruits came in, and they had enough to justify one of the meetings that the Boss loved. James just didn't see why he needed to be there. He was working on so many other things at the moment. He was teaching future Gym Leaders to help control the Pokemon League (Sabrina, Koga, and Lt. Surge had worked so well till those irritating brats from Pallet Town and their damn starters brought down Zapmolcuno {it's in the manga}), he was orchestrating several pokemon heists, and he had a rigorous training schedule he had to keep up. He understood the merits of something like this, but since none of the new recruits were going to be entering his covert unit (at least not yet, that woman in the strange clothing, she was one to keep an eye on) he just didn't really care much.
Giovanni was the only reason that James was still here anyway, without him, he would have left long ago. The other Executives were fine, though it did sometimes irritate hime how Ray was always lurking around in his mask, never really showing his face. It didn't have a point, it wasn't pragmatic, why wear that thing? Either way, James supposed, it doesn't really have anything to do with my next project. He needed to get his subordinates together...

A trail of dust followed Rizza as she sprinted towards Mahogany Town. Her black shoes were covered in dust and dirt from the journey, while her jeans and shirt had everything from grass stains to dirt on them. Black hair with pink strips was plastered to her forehead from sweat while the short hair in the back was a spiky mess going in all directions.
Route 42 hadn't seemed so long on the map when she had examined it earlier and now, she was almost out of time. 'I can't go back to camp! I can't and I wont!' Pushing herself to go faster, Rizza looked up to see the buildings of the town barely in the distance. 'Loophole! I have to find a loophole in case I don't make it.' Her mind stalled at pressure of the decision. Kiva, her Houndour, was injured and possibly wouldn't make it on time. On top of that, she didn't want to push him too far, possibly hurting the young Pokemon. That left her with one other option. Shade, who had been flying next to her effortlessly.
“Shade, go to the souvenir shop-” she gasped for breath, but didn't slow her pace. “- go through the bookcase and down to where other people are. You are my stand in. I will be there soon!” She finished, nearly slipping on a rock as she watched the Gastly fly ahead of her. Hopefully, it would be enough to not count her as absent.
Within minutes, Shade had disappeared and Rizza had passed the first building. She wasn't sure where the souvenir shop was, which was a bit problem. The second building was a PokeCenter, which made her pause. She wanted to get Kiva healed, but she knew she was on the a time limit and almost late. Gritting her teeth, she shook her head and started running towards the next building. 'I'm sorry Kiva, but we can't be late.' Upon seeing a man outside, she slowed down to ask him for directions. Just as she was about to stop, her foot slid on a rock. Her body crashed against the ground hard, making her wince. “Oh dear, are you alright?” the old man asked taking a few steps over to her. Before he could reach out his hand to help her up, Rizza jumped to her feet. “I'm in a rush. Where is the souvenir shop?” Her voice was desperate and pleading, more than she had meant for it to be. The old man pointed behind him “Two building back”. She bowed her head swiftly, grabbing her bag from the ground and throwing it over her shoulder. “Thanks so much!” she yelled as she took off around the mans house and to the shop.
Once inside the shop, Rizza furiously moved a bookshelf before realizing there was nothing behind it. “It's the cabinet. You should have seen the Gastly's face when he went through the wall.” The man behind the counter laughed, moving over to the golden cabinet and moving it for her. Again, she bowed her head “Thanks” she called out while nearly falling down the stairs.
Once in the meeting room, she quickly walked through the crowd to a chair in the first row that Shade hovered in. “Gaaa” he greeted her with a large smile. “Good job” She sighed while wheezing for breath. The Pokemon returned to it's Pokeball and she took her seat, forcing a smile to the other grunts to laughed at her. Subconsciously, she tried to fix her hair as she saw one of the executives stand up. She made it on time.
The executive was laid back with his speech, that ended rather quickly. Rizza was grateful for this, since she hoped to take a shower before her first mission. The other grunts all gathered together and congratulated one another, except Rizza.
She didn't plan on staying a grunt forever, and making friends with higher ranks would help her move up. The meeting was dismissed and since Rizza didn't see anyone of interest, she took off towards the facilities, after getting directions.

On the way out of the building after the ceremony had finished, Novick checks his phone and groans a bit "No its fine... Just fine..." He says to himself as he swings himself the other way and heads toward the meeting room. 'The mission sounds pretty interesting... I haven't heard about artificial evolution since the Eevee shenanigans over in Kanto awhile back... ((manga)) Hopefully this newbie wont be a downer...' Before going into the meeting room Novick does a little stretching to loosen himself up. Throughout his involvement in Team Rocket he was never that good at mingling with the higher ups. Its always no nonsense business with them and he sometimes lets his personality leak through when talking to them, thus getting him into trouble. With a deep breath he enters the room and announces his arrival "Agent Sergei Novick reporting for duty. How are ya...?" Although standing straight appearing to be focused, Novick harshly curses himself in his mind. 'EVERY FREAKING TIME!'

Ray met up with Scarab and shook his hand. "Hello James, weve never officially met though your name is no stranger to me or the other members. Raymond Dillans , pleasure to meet you."
With that he shook his hand and checked the map along route 37. He saw a big lake several yards west in an otherwise secluded and dense forest. Judging from his knowledge of the elemental beast legendary pokemon one in particular liked water. Suicune.
He checked his supply of dark balls before they departed and ran a diagnostic test on his snag machine. It had been a personal gift from Geovanni to Raymond last year. Part of an experimental process in which to capture pokemon from trainers. Geovanni knew of Raymond and his ambitions about the pokemon he sought and agreed with his ideas. After so many years being in team rocket and working with Geovanni, Raymond grew a fierce loyalty towards the man and his goals. He adopted one of Geovannis goals in using the pokemon he sought to conquer other regions. However it was only as possible as the chances of finding the pokemon in the first place.

Finding her way around the hideout was more of a task than she thought it would be. After dropping her Pokemon off to be healed and fed in the lab, she headed to the grunts quarters. She was one of the few grunts who would be making the base their temporary home. It was simple, just like at the camp. A room filled with bunk beds and a smaller one that had lockers and showers. She was surprised at how clean the rooms were. She had been told they had strict cleanliness policies at HQ, but she had doubted it. Quickly, she put her things in her locker, which was labeled with her name, and took the quickest shower she possibly could.
Once clean, Rizza sighed. Looking in the mirror, she hated how her wet hair clung to her face, which was still slightly red and puffy from running so long. The black tank top was a little small for her taste, making it tight on her chest and hips. However, she did like seeing the large R on the front of it in red, signifying she was finally part of Team Rocket. After gathering her things, she walked towards the labs, where a kind scientist had healed her Pokemon. She said her thanks and went back to the meeting room, where she was told to meet her mentor. She hadn't been there long when another grunt handed her a bag full of supplies. "I would have put it in your locker, but you already locked it. Welcome to Team Rocket." The messy hair man smiled, gave a quick wink, then walked off. Rizza chuckled, remembering him from camp, Leone. He had been the one who had helped her out in a few training sessions.
"Agent Sergei Novick reporting for duty. How are ya...?"
Rizza quickly looked up and noticed the man who had walked through the door. He was tall, at least compared to her, with long brown hair connecting to a bushy beard. She quickly looked at her phone to check the name. It matched up, that was her mentor. She smiled before pocketing her phone and approaching the man. He didn't look too stuck up and strict, which she was thankful for.
"Hi, I'm Rizza. I'm guess I'm going to be your trainee." She said optimistically as she offered her hand for a handshake.

Drew noticed a light blink on his phone as he stood against on one of the outer walls talking to another new recruit. He excused himself and pulled his phone out to see a message from one of the Executives.
"Report to the meeting room to find your partner, The Pokemon Queen, for training purposes."
Drew put his phone away and reflected for a moment. Pretty quick to give me a mission. This Pokemon Queen must be a pretty high profile leader in the Team Rocket if she is being sent out already. But why am I being sent? Oh well, best not to dwell too much right now, wouldn't want to keep her waiting.
Then it hit Drew, he had no idea what the "Pokemon Queen". Besides, the Pokemon Queen was only a code name, the message had failed to give him his handler's actual name to make it easier. So they really gave me two missions it seems: first track down my handler while everyone in Team Rocket is still here and then second, do research on a new pokemon.
Maybe one of the Admins or Execs know where I can find her. Doubtful any Grunts do.
Drew walked into a room adjacent to the large staging area and walked into a room with the leaders of the new Team Rocket mingling with one another and discussing various topics from pokemon gene splicing to the future in Tauros ranching. He noticed a leader standing slightly off to the side and decided that he would probably be the least bothered with a new recruit directly addressing him. Drew walked up to the leader and gave him the standard Rocket salute.
"Sir, permission to address?" The leader showed an amused grin at Drew's salute. "Easy there recruit, I like the formality but this is just the first day." "Uh-sorry there sir. I was just wondering if you could show me to someone named the 'Pokemon Queen'? I was sent an order from another Executive about joining her on a mission." "Sure thing. Pokemon Queen is just her codename though, few if any know her actual name but I do happen know that she works as a researcher so that's what the mission should involve most. Anyway, she's right over there in the body armor." The Executive pointed to the other side of the room. Drew thanked the Executive and hurried off to meet his new partner, he hoped that she would share his same values of making Team Rocket a global force for good.
Drew approached the woman clad in armor reminiscent of a Nidoqueen, which was curious but he didn't dwell because he had seen many of his masters in Blackthorn City don the guises of their dragon pokemon. "Hello, my name is Drew Finley. I was sent a message saying that we would be working together on some research for new pokemon."

Novick looks down and quickly analyzes Rizza through his shades. Without sounding too bummed out he meets the handshake "Sergei, though call me Novick. Easier name" After giving a hardy shake he takes a look at his phone and looks over the details of their mission "Looks like you're gonna have an exciting first day. I'm sure you looked over the details, so we should probably get a move on before anything happens without us" After taking two steps toward the door, Novick stops and chuckles "Ya know, that was a pretty shitty introduction... If we're gonna be working the field together we should probably get through the beginning awkward crap"
He turns to face Rizza with his back straight and shoulders squared in an effort to look professional "I am Novick. The only thing you need to worry about working with me is being a drag. What we do is all official but every once in awhile the field work gives you pleasantries like exciting battles or getting a drink while tailing a potential target. Allot of the time it doesn't seem opportune but when you're out in the field you just roll with it" He looks over her for a second time, realizing she looked pretty young and not threatening at all "... and leave the intimidating to me when the time comes. You wear the logo and some people want more out of you than a pokemon battle... It could get ugly" Novick reaches for his pokeballs in a bag off of his belt "I got a team of three. Considering the mission you'll be meeting them soon enough" With that all said and done, Novick folds his arms and smirks "I'll try to keep things interesting for your first time out. Should be a good time. Now... Tell me about yourself" Feeling a bit more jazzed about being partnered up, Novick waits for Rizza's response, keeping the mission in the back of his mind so they could get started.

The message flashed on her communicator, catching the Queen's eye. Ah. She'd been assigned. Rather than jumble about in the chaos of new Recruits and others, she simply sat in her chair and waited for whoever this.. 'Drew Finley' was to come to her. The proud matriarch of an Agent had already bumbled off to see her granddaughter.
A short time passed. Lo and behold, there was a young recruit walking her way with purpose. Average height, athletic physique. Her first impression of him was he had competence, raw ability, but the glint in his eye hinted towards something deeper. No matter, her mission was only to direct his actions.
She stood, the chainmail hauberk she wore making the slightest noises as she moved. " Drew Finley, I presume. I am the Pokemon Queen. You may refer to me as such, or simply as 'Professor'. Any other titles can be negotiated." The Queen took his hand in hers, testing his grip in her firm handshake. "We have our mission. Let's not waste any time. We are to report to the Laboratory to choose a specimen for a week-long observational study. I assume it will be your choice, as you are the junior partner. Come along."
She would then turn on a heel and march straight through the crowd, muscling her way past as she smartly strolled towards the doors to the Rocket Lab. "This is not a glamorous or exciting mission. However, if completed correctly, this mission could grant you a solid leg up over the other Grunts within the beginning ranks. Choosing a strong candidate for your Pokemon partner is exceptionally important for a young trainer such as yourself. As I have devoted my studies towards the growth and strengths of Pokemon in the wild, you may ask for my experience in your decision. This is to be a learning opportunity, not a test where you either succeed or fail. Do you understand?"

Drew nodded at his new mentor. "I understand, and I will do my best, Professor." Drew walked with his new mentor down the hall to the Rocket Lab. Upon entering the room his eyes darted this way and that as he saw scientists busily working with their experiments and recording frantic notes as new developments occurred. A tall woman ushered he and the Pokemon Queen to the back of the lab and into a separate space where various pokeballs were strewn out across a large white table in the center of the room.
"I was told that you two would be sent out for some field research and that the Grunt, err what's your name?" The woman checked a clipboard with notes scribbled across a few pages. "Drew, Grunt Drew you will be choosing a pokemon that we have worked with here in the lab to study in a more interactive and engaging manner outside in order to determine if that pokemon shows unusual behaviors or abilities that we could not pick up on ourselves." "Sounds good, are these-" "Yes, those are the pokemon you will choose from," she said interrupting Drew. "Uh-okay, so do I just-" "Yep, you will select one out of the eighteen to work with outside of the complex. It's doubtful that you will find anything that we haven't already discovered but the Executives insist on making us redo everything and want our research to be as thorough as possible," she said while putting her clipboard of notes down with a little too much force.
Drew didn't bother saying anything more to the scientist, best to not make her even more frustrated with more questions. He turned to face the large table with the pokeballs and noticed that it gave off a soft white glow when approached. Drew turned to his mentor before selecting his pokemon.
"Professor, if it's alright with you I already have a pokemon in mind that I would like to test out."
