It did not take this long to arrive from such a short way. Perhaps they had been accosted. The Queen stood up to scan the entrance to the Lake of Rage, her back on the water. She missed the dark shadow looming near the end of Drew's line. " Perhaps I will name it. After all, it has some kind of deviation from the norm within its species. Suppose I could deviate from my own behaviors to parallel the situation."
She patted the large Turtwig on the head. "Very well. Turtwig, you are now to be called 'Derwen'. It is an old family name, and means 'from the old oak tree'. It is a little big for you now, Sproutling. I have no doubts you will grow into it." She tapped the pokeball on the side of her helmet, letting the date and time blip up on the inside of her visor. " Blast it all. Where are they?"

James called in to the HQ before he came in the next day. It didn't do a whole lot of good to go in when they were just going to tell you to head off somewhere else. The boss told him that he was on his own for a while. His missions were his prerogative. He decided to call that scientist in the armor, like a Nidoqueen for some reason. Her and her partner might be interesting to hang out with. He asked around for her contact number, and got it from one of the record keepers. Along with the name "The Pokemon Queen". Apparently he wasn't the only one with a penchant for pseudonyms. Commander Scarab was a shield for James McLaren. "I'd also better get the contact information of her partner...really...Drew Finley...I remember him," He mused, "If I remember correctly, he was one of the grunts that got to the finals of the mock tournament that we held. I didn't have time to stay till the end, but that Charizard of his made quick work of most of the competition."
James noticed that there was actually a shipment of some kind of supplies headed to their location, and that their mission was one to train a pair of "starter" pokemon to their full potential (why was that, he wondered). Either way, if that was the case, it was the perfect time for him to take another pokemon, one of his...projects...with him. He left his Galvantula at home (sorry for all the pokemon changes, I just figure an Exec would have more than just his main team) and added a young Zorua pup that he'd left with Toby and Adeline. He'd taken a liking to the young one, and wanted to get her all the training that he was able, so that eventually she'd be able to travel with him on missions.
Zorua, female LV 23 Timid nature Dark Pulse Incinerate Dig Feint Attack
He called the two of them, "Hello Drew and...Queen? Pokemon Queen? What do you go by? Either way, this is Commander Scarab. I'm coming to join you over by the Lake of Rage. I hear you two are training your new pokemon there. I'll be joining you to see your training techniques, offer my advice, and generally get to know two people that I think have...potential."

Bored in his room Q starts to think about what he has learned while in Sinnoh and Unova. I've seen a lot and learned a lot these few years. I've become a member of Team Magma, Team Galactic, and Team Plasma. Being in those regions for those teams gave me a chance to learn some things that helped me in my career. Aura is a very real thing and being around aura masters and Lucario as well as Zoroark has changed the way I look at the world. It was hard learning to master aura and i'm still not a master, but I know what I need to know in this beautiful art. I can see people's aura in colors. They change color depending on their mood and how their emotional state is. People can be happy and have a warm blue lively aura or be a cold red filled with hate. They can also be stressing or hiding something and the color of their aura will get darker and darker. The grunt that knocked my pokeball out of my pocket...her aura was so cold. I couldn't even look at them after I sensed it. I couldn't tell if they were a boy or girl. They have a serious load on their plate with that aura.
Q starts to think about Giovanni. I wonder what the boss' aura feels like. He's a great man. He's not as bad as the world has him seem. He's misunderstood just like the rest of us. I wonder what he saw in me. I was a nerdy school kid. I hacked computers and reprogrammed my phone to be a pokedex and more. I don't know what he saw in me. I'm not a great executive in Team Rocket.
Q starts thinking about how much he has changed. I'm not the cold calculating geek I once was. I used to stay on the computer all day in the lab, but now i'm active and have feeling. Is this what this aura practice has done to me? Q throws a pokeball. At the ready, Sassy! The houndoom stands alert and ready for command. Q looks at his pokemon's aura. Sassy...you're aura is a blue and pink mixture and it's so warm. If I remember correctly pink is for love. Blue and pink for being happy and you love your trainer. Heh. That's really nice. Q rubs sassy on the neck. If you're like this I'd hate to see snarkiez. I'd be blinded from the brightness. ... ... He walks over to his desk and pulls a white pokeball from the desk drawer. Black...with red sections...hmm...you still hate me after I told you no...A voice can be faintly heard. Power!I need...more...power!! Sassy starts growling at the white pokeball with small embers coming from her mouth. Calm down Sassy! At ease! Sassy continues to growl. This guy really isn't liked by the team. A loud knock on the door is heard. Q walks over and opens the door. Two young female grunts are at the door. OH MY GOD! IT REALLY IS YOU! THE SOUVENIR SHOP LOOKOUT GUY WAS ACTUALLY RIGHT! THIS IS TOO COOL! WE'VE HEARD SO MANY STORIES ABOUT YOU! I'M DALIA BY THE WAY SIR AND THAT'S WENDI! ......hi.... Let me calm down. Wendi is the shy one. Don't worry she's only like this around famous people. Could you autograph my pokeball? ...Um sure I will. What should I write? To my best friend Dalia and her partner Koffing. Hail Team Rocket. Alrighty then... Wendi would you like anything? ...no just meeting you is enough for me... Well that's what's up. If you mind ladies I'm going to have to ask you to leave though. We'll get outta hair sir. Have a nice time back in Team Rocket. Hope we see you again! The two girls run out the door. Um..that was...unexpected... Another loud knock is heard. Q answers it. By the way this for you. Almost forgot to give it to you. If did the execs would have my head. The girls leaves and Q closes the door behind her. He opens a letter that was given to him.
Hello Executive Quincy. It is nice to know that you have returned safe and sound to us. We are pleased to hear that the missions you undertook were a success. When you returned we had the act of assigning partners to members. We shall assign you a partner as quickly as we can. The only reason we sent this letter in the first place is because you don't answer messages. Anyway be ready to take action. ~HEAD~
I'm gonna pay a visit to that lookout and teach him a lesson in secrecy. I'm an exec, but they work me like an agent or a grunt. *sigh* Whatever it was coming sooner or later. I just hope it isn't a total pain. Maybe I can learn more from them. Q looks at the white pokeball with his aura. The aura is still swirling with black and red energy. Hopefully I can learn a lot more.

Rizza stared at the road as Novick spoke. She had heard several stories of the dangers of being in Team Rocket. After all, that was the reason her mother dropped out and waited so long to let her join. She listened and tried to process his words. It was the same thing she had heard growing up, but hearing it from someone else made it feel different somehow. Danger didn't mean much to her. However, when he spoke of only having a few agents who knew him, a deep frown wrinkled her face as her brows drew closer together. Her gaze moved from the ground and to him. “That sounds so lonely...” she muttered when he paused, her face expressing the sadness that she felt for him. At his smirk, her features softened and once he paused again, she too gave a small smile. It was slightly forced, but she doubted he would recognize it as such.
His attention moved to his Pokenav again, which made her take in her surroundings. The forest was beautiful and she could almost smell the scent of the lake in the slight breeze.
"The lake is right up ahead. Finding the scientist shouldn't be too hard. Apparently she wares some sort of armor...”
Nodding, Rizza started to look around to see if maybe they would find the scientist before actually getting to the lake. Hoping he wouldn't notice, she watched him in her peripheral vision. His own words didn't seem to effect him, but they had hit her hard. Her father knew a lot of people, even if they weren't in Team Rocket with him. He was missed, dearly. The thought that other agents didn't have the same saddened her. “Sir.” She said then cleared her throat. Her posture straightened and she walked next to him with her shoulders back, as if she were at attention. “Sir, I just want you to know...” She paused, trying to find the right words. “I thank you for your guidance, words of honesty, and look forward to working with you. I don't know you, but if any thing were to happen, you would be missed.” She stopped, her face burning a bright pink. Clearing her throat again she forced another smile, an obvious one this time, and hoped she hadn't been out of line with her words. Quickly, she moved her attention to the road and their surroundings. In the distance, Rizza noticed an odd looking figure. At first, she thought it might be a Pokemon, until noticing it's height. “I think that might be her...” She stated, pointing to the large Nidoqueen looking figure in the distance.

Leone slowly walked from the training room with Lithe, his tired Growlithe at his side. It was hard to think that just that morning he had been welcomed into the organization, seen his new best friend paired off with an agent, and then left behind to train. He hoped that within the next few days he too would be paired with someone great, but his chances were looking slim now. He let out a sigh, patted Lithe's head, and forced a smile. “Ya' know, you did pretty damn good back dere. I might just try ta get you a treat.” He scoffed, remembering he didn't have much money on him. “Or maybe we can split a meal, now dat I dink about it.” He continued walking until he reached the room for the grunts. He smiled and waved at the few who were also in there before heading to his locker. Inside he put his gear and grabbed his uniform. “We don wanna go around smellin like dis ere locker room.” He said to Lithe, who gave a happy bark. Despite being a fire type, Lithe loved taking baths. Then again, he was a sort of dog after all.
After a quick shower, that took a bit longer than expected because of Lithe, Leone changed into his Team Rocket grunt uniform and grabbed his gear from his locker. It wasn't until then that he noticed a blinking light on his phone, indicating a message. “Damn, I hope id's just from Rizz or Alex.” He muttered, quickly navigating to his messages.
'You have been assigned a partner, Executive Q. You will (likely) find him in his room. Executive Headquarters.'
“An Executive? You gotta be kidding meh?” He nearly yelled before jumping with joy. “You ear meh Lithe, we been partnered with an executive!” Kneeling down he hugged his Growlithe lightly, before grabbing the spare towel he had and drying him off as quickly as he could. “We gotta look our best.” Tossing the towel into his locker, he tried to straighten Lithe's wild mane and hair before grabbing the towel again, and drying his own. After a quick styling, which was nothing more than pushing it all back, he ran out of the room with Lithe following behind.
It didn't take long to find the hallway of executive's rooms. As ran down the hallway, he nearly bumped into too girls giggling. “Sorry, ma chere.” He said quickly in his thick accent and watched as the girl went from furious to a bit calmer expression. “It's fine.” she muttered and gave a small smile. “Any chance eider of you joli catins know where to find ex Q?” Again, one girl giggled, while the other simply pointed to a door a few feet away. “Danks” Leone said before moving to the door. “Dis is it, Lithe.” He pushed his long red bangs out of his face, took a deep breath, moved his shoulders back to stand at attention, and knocked on the door.

Novick forms a soft smile on his face after Rizza's words of comfort. After being a lone agent for so long he wasn't used to hearing something like that, or at least someone saying it to him. As they approach the Pokemon Queen standing with her pokemon and her protege, Novick looks back at Rizza under his shades "Thanks, kid" He says softly before switching gears to a more professional stance and expression. Stopping a few feet away from the armored scientist, Novick gives a solute and introduces himself, assuming that Rizza would do the same.
"Agent Novick reporting. How ya doin'?" He began, once again letting his speaking patterns destroy any chance of looking professional. Behind his shades he looks around the area to get an idea of what he was interrupting, finding nothing beyond possible pokemon training 'Alright. Doesn't seem like we butted in to anything important' He thinks to himself, waiting for the scientist to respond

After he left that message with the two by the Lake of Rage, James thought he should check if anyone else was headed in the same direction. He checked the most recent logs from the area, and found out that two more members, Rizza and Sergei, were on their way to the lake. "Rizza...she must be new. James didn't remember her from before. Sergei Novick though, James had sent him on a few missions. He was a bit of a downer, but an effective soldier who could be trusted to get the job done. He does a good job at using his pokemon in a variety of situations, very fast attacks, fitting for a man on the smaller side," he thought.
At times like this, he'd prefer to be with his own direct subordinates, but they were on a mission given to them straight from Giovanni, and he was ordered to stay out of contact with them. They weren't even allowed to wear their distinctive WWGD (what would Giovanni do) bracelets this time. There was no telling when they'd be back, or what they were doing.
But as things stood, all there was left was to get a move on. Since he was already in his flat in Mahogany Town, it wouldn't be too long riding on Scolipede.

Rizza took a few more steps and realized she had been right and the figure ahead was in fact the scientist. She smiled and glanced at Novick, who said his thanks. In reply, she gave a simple soft smile. It wasn't much, but she knew it was time to put on her serious face in light of them now being close to others in the group. She wasn't sure how she should act though. Could she still be normal and not all at attention and such.
Upon seeing Novick straighten his shoulders as they walked closer, she did the same. Her posture changed from slouching to a more military style. Her head was held high, her shoulders back, and she stood straight. When Novick gave the scientist his solute, she followed with one too. After he was finished giving his introduction, Rizza softly cleared her throat but stopped to wait to see if the scientist spoke. 'I'm just a grunt. Be silent and follow orders' she reminded herself to keep from following Novick's lead too much.

Commander Scarab's message rattled off inside her helmet, and the Queen pinged back her reply as soon as she received it. Her message did not contain an actual greeting, just simply the coordinates of where they seemed to be converging, as she could now see the other two approaching on the horizon. " Finley, The Agent and his Grunt are approaching. A Commander should be arriving soon as well. I expect you to be on your best behavior in his presence, or he may drown you with the Gyarados."
She turned smartly on her heel, returning Novick's salute with a sharp gesture of her own. " You took your time. I assume you have brought the stones?" she snipped, clipping the ends of her sentences in her annoyance at being kept waiting. She did hold an hand up to stop Novick from moving closer. " I do not want to hold them, as I do not want their aggressive aura corrupting our test subjects. Simply lay them out on the grass so I may observe them from a distance." Her hematite Turtwig whistled a hello, keeping close to the Queen's raised boot heels.

Realizing that making excuses was pointless, Novick silently takes the three stones from out of his bag and places them at what he thought seemed like a safe place between him and the scientist. He then backs up next to Rizza and reaches into his bag again, this time pulling out one of the Great Balls Gloom was captured him. Not entirely sure what they were gonna be using as a test subject, Novick speaks up while holding the ball out to show "If you're interested, I have the Gloom that went through the transformation right here. If it would help for your test you're welcome to it" Only being able to assume that the stones were some kind of Sun Stones, Novick takes another look around to see what pokemon might be used in the experiment. 'A grass type and a water type... Both don't evolve with evolutionary stones... What is she planning with these things...? Does she know something I don't right off the bat? This should be interesting...' Waiting on the scientists reaction to his proposal, Novick continues to run scenarios through his head to try to better understand whats to come

Drew turned his head to the side to address the Queen, for he didn't want to lose his stance while in the middle of fishing. "I'll make sure to address him with the proper respect, Professor." Before turning back to face the lake Drew noted that the two agents had arrived to deliver the stones. This time Drew faced Aqua, still trying her best to stay focused like her new trainer. "Aqua, those stones are here, I think it's time you went back in your pokeball." The Totodile turned and began jumping up and down in a frantic protest. "Come on Aqua, I just don't want to risk anything happening to you. You're still learning about the dangers that are outside the lab."
Aqua was not happy with that. She stopped jumping and turned her head toward the Professor and the two agents. Within a few seconds, Aqua took off running toward the group. "Aqua what are you doing?" Drew asked confused. He had turned almost completely around to chase after his pokemon when he felt a tug on his fishing rod. A single tug that brought him down to the sandy ground near the lake's edge. However, Drew was still focused on Aqua when the second tug hit to barely register it. Regaining his sight on the mischievous Totodile, he saw her scoop up the bag of stones that had been lain on the ground.
"Aqua, put..those stones...down," Drew said in a calm and level tone. A third tug on the fishing pole brought his arm hard and flat to the ground. Drew felt a quick muscle twitch and winced in pain from the shock. Aqua must have noticed him in pain because he could hear the a rustling of hard materials come closer to him. The Totodile laid the bag next to Drew, on his side closest to the water, and then nudged him to get up, visibly worried that Drew had actually hurt himself more than he was showing.
"I'm okay Aqua, thank you," Drew said standing up with Aqua's help. He turned to look down at his pokemon. "Want to help me reel this fish in Aqua?" The Totodile nodded her head, this time she was able to keep the seriousness in her eyes. She was ready for a battle. Aqua grabbed hold of Drew's right leg to help him stay grounded as he reeled in his catch.
Drew felt a hand on left shoulder. "Want some help there, son?" Drew turned to see that the old fisherman had gotten out of his chair across the beach. Nodding in return, Drew let the old man grab partial hold of the fishing pole.
The pokemon in the water kept tugging hard and even with the help of the expert fisherman and Aqua, Drew edged closer to the water. How close though he didn't realize until his left foot knocked the bag of stones into the murky water. Small glimmers of light descended into the darkness of the lake, the dangerous stones were now in the water with very large, and overall, angry pokemon.
The tugging on the fishing pole stopped almost simultaneously with the disappearance of the stones into the depths. Drew then noticed the lake become very quiet until rain began to fall out of dark clouds that had seemingly come from nowhere. "Drop the fishing rod, boy. We need to get away from the lake!" Drew did as the old fisherman said and then scooped Aqua up with his arms and began to ran away from the watery edge of the lake.
The pair had ran a short distance when Aqua slipped out of Drew's hands. "Aqua!" Drew turned to see the Totodile plant her feet firmly on the ground, faced toward the lake which now emanated an ominous power. Rain began to pelt the lakefront area under a thick blanket of water. Drew looked at his new pokemon and realized just how much she was like Char, eager for battle, driven to succeed, and motivated to protect others. The rain pelted his face with cold drops, the water running down his face and making him remember traveling to the deep, dark underground area of the Dragon Den near Blackthorn City. Master Claire's Kingdra had used Rain Dance to weaken Char's fire attacks against her team in battle. Drew had then of course lost the battle, but since then he and Char had continued to train at every possible chance they got. At that point he decided that he wouldn't run away. All his training had prepared him for the worst, and that in situations such as this, a bond with one's pokemon is what would lead to triumph. He understood that as he walked next to Aqua to assume his own battle stance.
"Aqua we will need all the help we can get," Drew said while putting his hand on two pokeballs attached to his belt, the rain beating down on him and Aqua. The Totodile nodded her head, she understood her limitations. Pulling the two pokeballs out of his belt he hoped that the old fisherman would get the other agents out of the area and to safety, there was most definitely a Gyarados causing the downpour.
As if the lake had read Drew's mind, a large dark shadow shot up from the lake at an incredible speed, charging straight toward the shoreline and stopping where the deep portion of the lake began.

Novick frantically looks around the area after being caught by surprise by the sudden environment change "What the...?" He says to himself as he slowly assesses the situation in his head "I literally blinked and everything got dark" Novick puts the great ball holding the Gloom back into his bag and focuses on the lake, thinking that if anything were to mess with the weather this badly in such a short time it probably came from there. 'Alright... I've been around long enough to know this is some pokemon acting out... I could try to fight it. I've seen Pikachu's do something similar to this, and we have some capable Rocket members here...' He glances at Queen through his glasses '... I wonder if this is why she was here... Can't say it would surprise me' Novick focused back on the lake and began to brace himself, getting himself ready to fight or run if things got dire enough
While running options through his head, Novick glances at Rizza and bites his lip 'I forgot about her... Her pokemon are scrappy but I doubt they could handle whatever is fucking with the weather' He focuses om the lake once more 'As much as I wouldn't mind fighting, I should probably get us out of here... If the force is coming from the lake her Growlithe might not survive' He takes a quick look around the area and then looks back at the lake 'If I need to I'll have her hide somewhere out of the way and then come back to help. but before anything, lets see what we're up against' He looks to Queen and begins to question "Any idea whats causing this?" Novick asks, trying not to sound accusing

The professor cried out when his Totodile seized the stones. " ... FINLEY! Control your pokemon!" Aaaand they were gone. She stared in horror, the samples sinking beyond sight.
When the weather suddenly changed into a downpour, The Queen quickly stepped in front of her Turtwig to shield it from the oncoming shadows in the water. She rolled a pokeball from inside her large gauntlet into her hand, standing with her shoulders rolled forwards. She looked more like a Nidoqueen ready for battle than before. "I assure you, that I have no idea what this is about, but knowing that the lake itself is named The Lake of Rage and knowing the denizens that are known to emerge... I believe we may be in for some trouble."
A red light flashed from the ball in her hand, and coalesced into a small pokemon by her heels. Mawile shook its tiny head, as if just waking up. The pokemon's secondary jaws stretched in a vicious yawn, showing all of its steely teeth. Mawile studied the large Turtwig for a moment, dismissed it, and jumped onto her master's shoulders with a little squeak. " Mawile, prepare yourself. Finley, I will allow you to take the first, but do NOT jeopardize your experiment."

Drew turned to Aqua, "You heard the Professor, Aqua, stay back and observe for a little while until Char and Scout can weaken that thing. Fair?" Aqua seemed somewhat displeased but she nodded her head while slowly taking a few steps behind Drew.
A large roar resounded across the lakefront as the large shadows began to come close enough to reveal themselves. Drew had indeed caught a Gyarados with the fishing pole, but somehow three others had followed it to the surface, most likely disturbed by the tug-of-war.
Only one stood in front of Drew, the other three had made their way toward the Queen and the other Rocket agents. Unfortunately there was nothing Drew could do to help them right now since his pokemon were going to have enough trouble taking down this lone Gyarados.
No more second guessing, Drew thought to himself. It's time to show everyone just what we can do, team. Drew lifted the two pokeballs and pressed the center buttons to expand the capsules.
Drew threw both pokeballs into the air, which then released to bright lights against the dark cloudy sky. A Charizard and a Hoothoot materialized from the bright glowing lights. The Charizard let out a loud roar mirroring the Gyarados' and attempted to show its dominance by spewing brilliant orange and red flames from its mouth. The Hoothoot simply flew around until landing on the sand in front of Drew, chirping to let its trainer know it was happy to see him.
"This is it guys! We've trained for this day and now it's time to show everyone just what that training was for." Char began to spew more flames from his mouth to show his preparedness for battle. Scout the Hoothoot took a few hops forward before taking off into the sky next to Char. The rain pelted everything around the lake area but Drew's mind was now focused on the battle and his pokemon.

"Man, I hate this rain," James thought. Scolipede was still making progress, but less than he was earlier. The mud was playing hell with it's speed boost ability, and instead of forcing his friend to keep going through the slog, James dismounted and returned Scolipede to it's pokeball with a word of encouragement "It's not your fault buddy; you can't control the weather."
He thought he heard some noise from around the lake, figuring it was just the thunder from the storm that just started (kinda out of nowhere really. That's Johto weather for ya), but as he got closer, he saw flashes of a bright light in the air. Getting closer still, he realized that those flashes weren't lightning, like he'd thought, they were slower, more...viscous, like if someone were blowing light...or fire...oh shit.
Scolipede was tired, and he was still more than a mile away. James was a good athlete, but not a great athlete; he ran about a five and a half minute mile on a good day, but this was anything but a good day. All the same, that was where his subordinates were. So what if they weren't people he usually worked with. These were people with whom he shared a goal, and a lifestyle. And James would be damned before he didn't do everything he could to help.
So he ran.
