This will be the thread that will mostly be used to submit ideas for charity events and fundraiser ideas that you have. Please, be concise and don't spam this board, otherwise really good ideas might get missed and we'll be worse for it.

It was commented on the Facebook page, I really like the idea of having an emphasis on animal related charities. This ties into the pokemon theme very strongly and is something that everyone can get on board with. Two that come to mind: The prevention of animal creulty, www.aspca.orgThis is actually a collection of others, www.animalcharitiesofamerica.org/home/

I kinda had an idea about comic con anywhere have enough people show up about 9 one of us a gym leader and have him dressed a bit special people can challenge him only after beating 6 members wandering through the con and in order to challenge him it is 10 bucks but if you win you get a badge and proceeds go to charity

I offer the idea of hosting 5k run/walks! It is inexpensive to find a course and we can all get in shape for travelling the world! We can sell merchandise like tee-shirts and waterbottles or charge a flat rate entry fee.

One group we're going to want to get involved with from the start is United Way. All the different chapters donate to other local charities, and the national group does fantastic things.

A question to ponder. Do we actually want to collect money to donate? Or do we want to run said events and direct people to donate to a specific charity directly?
By collecting money to donate we will need to keep tax records and other paperwork. Not necessarily a problem, bit something to think about.

That is a good point! I may know someone who dabbles professionally in taxes, should we need any guidance there (at least in the USA). Although I feel like encouraging the donation to known charities would put geographical limiters on our events (i.e. being near a charity facility to direct donators) and/or require us to coordinate schedules and volunteers with said charities t merge events. Perhaps both sides have pros and cons?

ASPCA and what not are phenomenal suggestions. In keeping with the animal theme, a lot of my charity donations go to California Wolf Center. They do a lot to protect the species from crazy, over-zealous hunters. We could look into organizations like theirs!

I'm thinking of helping those who are affected by strong typhoons/hurricanes, giving relief goods or something. Just like Red Cross. Imagine a small town rebuilt by Team Rockets that'll be a awesome! Then again, it'll require big time resources.. Okay, now I'm dreaming.
Btw, I'm from Philippines. Which is always visited by typhoons.

You know, we could always take this as a situational thing, too. Like, I'm in Oregon, let's say I wanted to donate to the Arctic Wolf Conservation Center, our event could do that. But maybe one down in Los Angeles, maybe they feel their money would be better spent being donated to the homeless. We could just sorta bend the events whichever way the wind is blowing.
